Munich (DE), 1st September 2014. An intense week is underway for the BMW Motorsport Juniors. First up for Jake Hughes (GB), Jesse Krohn (FI), Alexander Mies (DE) and Moisés Soriano (ES) is a second workshop at the iZone Driver Performance Centre in Silverstone (GB). From Monday to Wednesday, they will undergo a three-part mental and simulator training course, under the guidance of renowned sports psychologist Prof. Dr. Dieter Hackfort (DE). The goal of the workshop is to delve deeper into what the Juniors learned during their first visit at the start of June.

From Silverstone, Hughes, Krohn and Mies head straight to Barcelona (ES) where, thanks to the experience they have already gained in the BMW M235i Racing at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife (DE), they will have the opportunity to start at the Barcelona 24 Hours. Mies will alternate with Axel Burghardt (DE), Volker Piepmeyer (DE), Liesette Braams (NL) and Michael Bonk (DE) at the wheel of a BMW M235i Racing fielded by the Bonk Motorsport team. Mies is a familiar face to the team, having already made multiple appearances for the team in the VLN Endurance Championship.

Hughes and Krohn will share the Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M235i Racing with the two regular VLN drivers Michael Schrey (DE) and Emin Akata (DE). The team will also run a BMW Z4 GT3 in the highest A6 class, with drivers Ralf Oeverhaus (DE), Stefan Aust (DE), Peter Posavac (DE) and Jens Richter (DE) at the wheel.

The Barcelona 24 Hours will take place at the Circuit de Catalunya, which hosts the Formula One circus every year. The race starts at 12:00 this Saturday. In total, about 70 participants have registered in the various classes, including numerous BMW customer racing teams. The variety of cars in action is similar to that on the Nordschleife, ranging from GT3 cars to production-based cars.






Jake Hughes:
“I am delighted to have the chance to drive in my first 24-hour race in Barcelona. Thank you very much to BMW Motorsport and Walkenhorst Motorsport for this opportunity. I know the circuit very well, having lined up there a few times in Formula Renault. This should prove particularly helpful in the night, as I have never driven in the night before. As such, it is good to get my first experience of driving in the dark on a relatively safe and well-known Grand Prix circuit, before hopefully being able to race during the night on the Nordschleife at some point. My goal for the weekend is to drive consistently and without making any mistakes, and to gain valuable experience for the future.”

Jesse Krohn: 
“I have also driven at the Circuit de Catalunya before – never in a race, but during Formula 3 tests. I have already had the opportunity to get to know our fellow drivers at Walkenhorst Motorsport. They are very nice, and very quick. They prove that regularly in the VLN. I am grateful for the opportunity to drive with them, and am really looking forward to the weekend.”

Alexander Mies:
“I am looking forward to lining up alongside ‘old acquaintances’ at the Barcelona 24 Hours. I have known the guys at Bonk Motorsport for four years and have contested many races with them. It is nice to be able to meet up with them somewhere other than the Nordschleife. I have never driven at the Circuit de Catalunya, but have already familiarised myself with the layout. I will use the practice sessions for the rest. When I look at how short the laps are compared to the Nordschleife, I cannot help but feel that it will be very tight with about 70 cars out there. As such, you must remain completely focussed at all times.”

Munich/Brescia. 60 years on from its Mille Miglia debut, a BMW Isetta is once again lining up at today’s start of the legendary endurance tour through northern Italy. The diminutive two-seater with green paintwork is competing in this year’s Mille Miglia as part of the BMW Group Classic squad, which also includes two BMW 507 models along with four BMW 328 historic racers. BMW Group Classic is thus deploying all the models that were at the start of the historic race events held from 1927 to 1957, which automatically qualifies them to take part in the revived version for historic cars launched in 1977. The Mille Miglia 2014 starts today in the north Italian city of Brescia and will cover more than 1,600 kilometres (1,000 miles) on a route that includes Padua, San Marino, Rome, Siena, Pisa and Bologna before returning to the start point.


In May 1954 a total of seven Iso Isetta models took part in the Mille Miglia. They were the predecessors of the “Motocoupé” built under licence by BMW from 1955 to 1962. With no prospect of beating their high-performance rivals but displaying remarkable stamina, these “smoochballs” quickly won over the hearts of the spectators. The following year saw four Iso Isettas line up for the race, which already started and finished in Brescia back then.


The BMW 507 made its sole appearance in 1957, the last Mille Miglia to be staged as a race event. In 1992 it rode to victory in the revived event for historic cars. But the most enduring and spectacular success story belongs to the BMW 328. In 1938 this extremely lightweight and reliable sports car drew attention to itself by capturing a class victory at its debut appearance in the Mille Miglia. Two years on an even greater triumph lay in store – overall victory for Fritz Huschke von Hanstein and Walter Bäumer in the BMW 328 Mille Miglia Touring Coupé.


The winning car of 1940 will also be at the start of this year’s Mille Miglia. The Coupé with its tubular space frame and “superleggera” body has been one of the showpieces of the BMW Group Classic collection since 2002.




It landed a very special coup in 2004 when Giuliano Cané and his wife Lucia Galliani as co-driver took the car across the finish line in Brescia to a second victory, making the BMW 328 Mille Miglia Touring Coupé the first car ever to win not only the classic race event but also the new version of the Mille Miglia for historic automobiles. Besides this winning model, the BMW Group Classic fleet lining up this year also includes the BMW 328 Touring Roadster as well as a 1938 BMW 328 which finished third in 1940 – the BMW 328 Mille Miglia Roadster.


A total of 430 historic vehicles have registered for the 2014 Mille Miglia. This year, for the first time, the round trip will be carried out over four days rather than three. Launching from the traditional starting point at 6pm today, Thursday 15 May 2014, the cars will initially head towards Padua. The second and longest stage finishes in Rome on Friday evening, while the following day the route leads to Siena and then along a new section via Volterra, Lucca and Pisa to Bologna. From there, on Sunday, 18 May 2014, competitors will tackle the final stretch towards Brescia where the first cars are expected to heave into view around midday.

Big-block and V8 are not the only engines – American attitudes are changing. The alternatives are modern, downsized engines with gasoline direct injection, diesel engines, and even all-electric powertrains. Just out, “Ward's 10 Best Engines” confirms this trend. This long-standing publication, compiled annually by U.S. automotive journalists, recognizes outstanding powertrain achievement and singles out engines that feature pioneering technology. The list is a litmus test of the way mobility is developing in the United States. 


For many years, the ranking was dominated by V6 and V8 engines. But this year, most of the engines singled out by Ward's automotive journalists are no bigger than three liters – and the list even includes a purely electric motor. One other striking feature of the list is that no less than three diesel engines have made it into the top ten. Up to now, diesel has suffered from a negative reputation in the country. The general trend is clear: the U.S. is moving to embrace highly efficient powertrains. “We are seeing a sea-change in the Amercian way of driving. Cars no longer have to be simply big, they have to be very economical as well,” says Dr. Rolf Bulander, member of the Bosch Board of Management. Bosch's Automotive Technology business sector is the beneficiary of this trend – after all, its technology makes this change possible. Bosch technologies are an essential feature of eight out of ten of the Ward's ten Best Engines.

“Electric cars are about the wow factor, not economics”

The first electric motor to make the list – the SMG 180/120 in the Fiat 500e – is made by Bosch itself. As soon as the driver steps on the gas, the compact electric car delivers acceleration of the kind only powerful gasoline engines can equal. The electric Fiat has been praised to the skies by journalists. Its electrical powertrain is clearly in tune with the spirit of the times, as well as with the wishes of many Americans. “Electromobility is not just about emissions and cost, but also about dynamism, torque, and driving enjoyment. In short: electric cars are about the wow factor, not pure economics,” Bulander says. Especially in states such as California, who have introduced legislation to encourage electromobility, electric vehicles are equally about driving enjoyment and ecological sense. However, Bosch regards electrification as the wave of the future in many parts of the world, and is thus driving the development of electrical powertrains forward outside the U.S. as well. The Fiat 500e is one of 30 projects going into production with Bosch technology in 2014.


“The Americans are ready for diesel engines”

The revival of the diesel engine is a sign of a second development in North America. “America has diesel in its sights again. We are confident that the diesel is now ready for the U.S., and Amercans are ready for diesel,” Dr. Rolf Bulander says. Here as well, the automotive journalists singled out three turbo-diesels for the first time. All of them are equipped with modern high-pressure diesel injection systems made by Bosch. But it is not only journalists who are interested in diesels. Car buyers are also taking notice. Even today, where there is a diesel variant available in a model series, 30 percent of car buyers are opting for this efficient powertrain. Just a few years ago, this figure was only ten percent. 


There has been a change in public attitudes: for many years, Americans regarded the diesel as a sluggish, noisy industrial engine, unsuitable for accelerating quickly at traffic lights or for leisurely driving. Over the same period in Europe, the diesel developed into a dynamic, economical, and sophisticated powertrain. Now, many Americans have woken up to this trend. More and more, they are coming to appreciate the diesel engine's low consumption and powerful torque. This is why it is no longer just European automakers that are offering diesel-powered vehicles, but U.S. ones as well. Beacon projects include models such as the Chevrolet Cruze, Jeep Cherokee, and Dodge Ram 1500. At present, 37 diesel models are available in the United States. By 2017, this number is set to rise to 60.


“In the U.S. automotive market, gasoline direct injection is where the future lies” 

In the U.S., emissions legislation is a significant driver of the change in mindset relating to powertrains. To give an example, a large sedan had to be able to drive at least 28 miles to the gallon in 2012. By 2025, new vehicles will have to have extended this range to nearly 55 miles on average. In European terms, this is equivalent to fuel consumption of roughly 4.3 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers. And as Americans mainly drive gasoline-powered vehicles – despite the increasing popularity of hybrids, electric cars, and diesels – there will also be a sea-change in the classic American powertrain. 


Currently, most of the classic big-block engines in the U.S. are fitted with port fuel injection systems, and consumption is correspondingly high. Pressure from legislators will mean that more efficient combustion processes, such as direct injection, will gain in importance. “In the U.S. automotive market, gasoline direct injection is where the future lies. Drivers are realizing that compact, efficient engines with fewer cylinders can also deliver a lot of power and driving enjoyment,” Bulander says. One example of this new generation of engines is Ford's 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine. There is a clear trend toward powerful, downsized turbo engines fitted with direct injection. Here, displacement is giving way to technology. More efficient combustion means that gasoline direct injection saves fuel while at the same time delivering high torque, and this in every vehicle class. This makes it perfect for U.S. drivers' needs, and is the reason Bosch believes gasoline direct injection can capture a market share of as much as 50 percent in new vehicles.

Automotive Technology is the largest Bosch Group business sector. According to preliminary figures, its 2013 sales came to 30.7 billion euros, or 66 percent of total group sales. An uncompromising approach to materials and craftsmanship remained and traditional visual tenets were re-imagined to express the car’s modernity and dynamism. For example, the stately presence of Phantom’s grille made way for a softer, less formal design – its subtle curvature more akin to a jet air-intake than traditional pantheon facia.

 

Flowing ‘yacht lines’ and powerful flanks hint at the car’s inherent dynamism, whilst traditional Rolls-Royce DNA is expressed in the elevated prow, large uninterrupted surfaces, long bonnet and short overhang.

 

Ghost Series II – design evolved

Ensuring Ghost remains at the very cutting edge of an ever-changing world is essential to

satisfying Rolls-Royce’s demanding customers and Ghost Series II proves a showcase for the most recent technological advances from the marque. Clad in a subtle re-design, Ghost Series II ensures the timeless yet modern quality that the marque’s customers cherish.

 

The eye is immediately drawn towards the re-sculpted headlights, with unbroken daytime running lights framing a new, more dynamic shape, giving Ghost Series II a distinct visual signature from the front. This blends perfectly with revised surface treatments to the front of the car. A tapered ‘wake channel’ on the bonnet, emanating from the Spirit of Ecstasy’s wings, evokes the sight of a jet’s vapour trail, hinting at the car’s dynamism. Subtle re-sculpting of Ghost’s bumpers creates a stronger stance and a sense of extra width and height, whilst the contemporary aesthetic is further enhanced with the addition of chrome inserts to the front air intakes, which now feed more air cooling to the front brakes.

 

One of Rolls-Royce’s defining visual signatures is given an enhanced dynamic edge. The famous waft line has be re-designed on Ghost Series II to lean further forwards – with a view to

emphasising the car’s effortless dynamism.

 

These features, married with new optional 21” forged wheels and standard 19” wheels, ensure Ghost remains a perfectly executed, contemporary expression of Rolls-Royce luxury.

 

New surprise and delight features such as the optional monogrammed stainless-steel fuel-filler cap enhance the car’s tactile and visual appeal.

 

Interior comfort and style are enhanced with re-designed seats. Electronically adjustable thigh supports for front seat passengers complement a new seat structure, enhancing Ghost’s unchallenged interior comfort levels. A revised rear seat design ensures absolute comfort for those wishing to conduct business or simply relax. In ‘lounge seat’ configuration, the seats are gently angled towards each other to create a more intimate setting, allowing passengers to communicate more easily.

 

The seats are available with three-level heating as standard with optional massage function and can be reclined for comfort. Chrome surrounds to the sun visor lights and a new soft-feel dashboard treatment enhance the car’s premium tactility, whilst sumptuous natural grain leather can now be optionally extended to the A and C pillars.

 

The instrument dials and clock have also undergone subtle enhancements with individually applied polished metal chaplets around the dials evoking the precision design of hand-made, luxury wrist watches, whilst the matt chrome centres ‘float’ in the middle of each instrument.

 

Finally, the scope for Bespoke customisation is widened with the introduction of two new, exquisitely crafted veneers; Paldao and Walnut Burr Crossband.

Ghost Series II is the ultimate contemporary combination of luxury, technology and connectivity

available to the successful entrepreneur on the move today. It is an oasis of calm in a busy connected world where he or she can do business in peace.         It presents the driver and occupants with a comprehensive example of effortless Rolls-Royce connectivity, a network where communication between car, environment and driver helps lower the pulse, ease the journey and delight the occupants.

 

Key to this is the discreet placement of the car’s technological functions. Accessed through a one-touch call button or the Spirit of Ecstasy Rotary Controller, on-board Wi-Fi facilitates email, file sharing, telephony and video-conferencing.  The user is also able to watch televised business news in order to remain ahead of the game.  Navigation assistance is summoned by the same one-touch call button. Then by simply saying “Navigate to Piccadilly in London” or wherever else the owner wishes to go, directions that anticipate and avoid unnecessary delays are offered.

 

Should a delay occur or our owner needs to talk to their business associates, Ghost Series II makes this as effortless as possible with the same one-touch system. The command “Call Giles” automatically connects the call. At the end of the conversation, a command such as “Play Radio” will return the driver directly to the in-car entertainment options.

 

Information from the significantly updated Multimedia Interface and Navigation system is displayed beautifully on a new 10.25” high definition screen.

 

Spirit of Ecstasy Rotary Controller

In 2014, the famous Spirit of Ecstasy figurine celebrates her 103rd birthday. More than any other symbol of luxury, the flying lady stands as a genuine icon, one whose beautiful image continues to adorn the grille, but is now also reproduced within Ghost Series II’s cabin depicted below the crystal glass surface of the new rotary controller.

 

This Spirit of Ecstasy Rotary Controller presents a touch pad (rather than a touch screen which might leave unsightly fingerprints at driver and passenger eye level), with the ability to write characters by finger, as well as the ability to scroll through function menus by turning the chrome dial and pressing down to select its functions.

The system recognises English, Latin and Arabic characters as well as Mandarin, to assist drivers in China, where character selection can otherwise be a time-consuming process.

 

The Rotary Controller’s touch pad also allows ‘pull and pinch’ features, replicating intuitive smart phone functionality. These help the user pinpoint chosen areas on the screen or help to make them larger. For example, different areas of a map can be found by moving a finger across the touch pad, whilst street resolution can be made larger or smaller by pinching or pulling.

 

Bespoke Audio

Rolls-Royce employs experts for all aspects of high-end craftsmanship, from hand-painted coach lines to finely-tuned audio systems. Finely tuned by expert Rolls-Royce audio engineers and naturally incorporating the finest hardware and latest advances in connectivity, Bespoke Audio is the most exhaustively designed automotive hi-fi system ever developed.

 

Ensuring perfect acoustic balance and performance was central to the design process of the car. Rolls-Royce’s in-house audio engineers were consulted on the effect proposed changes in the wider design of the car may have on the performance of the system – a practice unparalleled in the automotive world.

 

Eighteen individually-tuned speakers, with both theatre and studio settings, deliver a pure ‘larger than live’ sensation. Two bass speakers located in the boot complement seven speakers meticulously placed throughout the cabin. Two ‘exciter’ speakers in the roof-lining bring the sound to occupants’ ear level creating a completely unique listening sensation.

 

The system utilises a highly sensitive microphone to constantly monitor ambient exterior noise, subtly adjusting the volume and tone settings accordingly to ensure the system delivers consistent perfection. The technology complements this, with frequency and phase correction for individual speakers eliminating potential loud and dead spots caused by outside influences.

 

Supplementing this industry-leading audio engineering in the true spirit of Sir Henry Royce, Ghost Series II’s on-board hard drive holds 20.5 GB of storage, meaning it can host approximately 5,700 items of music downloaded via the USB port located within the centre console or glove compartment.

iPod and iPad connections allow the importation of music, but also podcast and audio book downloads. Bluetooth audio streaming is an option too, from one of two phones that can be paired with equal functionality.

 

A number of music searches can be made via the Spirit of Ecstasy Rotary Controller, including a “play more like this” function while online Gracenote® access for CDs with hit selection make navigating music collections an effortless experience. But it is the sound quality itself that places Ghost Series II at the pinnacle of in-car audio.

 

Illuminating technology shows the way 

The most recent developments in LED lighting technology have also been applied to Ghost Series II. The way this light is managed is significantly enhanced by adaptive technology. Electronically controlled reflectors move in the direction of travel in response to steering-wheel turns to give a greater depth of vision when cornering and a whiter, brighter light ensures effortless and safe driving on dark roads whilst helping reduce driver tiredness.

 

In addition, automatic dipping of full-beam headlights has been replaced with revolutionary new glare-free technology. When a car approaches, light is deflected to ensure the oncoming driver is not dazzled. Ghost Series II drivers therefore enjoy the safety benefits of constant full-beam visibility. A day-time running bar frames Ghost Series II’s contemporary light design, giving the car a distinctive signature whilst augmenting safety at the same time.

 

Satellite Aided Transmission

Ghost Series II’s effortless dynamism is augmented with the addition of Satellite Aided Transmission, a technology that made its debut on Wraith in 2013.

 

Satellite Aided Transmission utilises GPS data to allow the car to see beyond what the driver sees, anticipating their next move based on location and driving style. It uses this information to select the most appropriate gear from the Ghost Series II’s 8-speed ZF gearbox to ensure the driver is able to appropriately exploit the power from the Rolls-Royce 6.6 litre twin-turbo V12, ensuring an effortless and seamless drive experience.

 

For example when approaching a sweeping bend, the car will predict how you wish to drive through it. When the driver lifts the accelerator it will hold the lower gear to ensure maximum power is available on accelerating through the exit of a corner. 

 

Satellite Aided Transmission comes as standard on all Ghost Series II cars.

 

Dynamic driving package and suspension enhancements

 

Ghost Series II presents the perfect blend of driving dynamics and hallmark Rolls-Royce comfort. Customers can specify a Dynamic Driving Package that offers a more involving driving experience with no compromise to ride quality.

 

Re-designed front and rear struts married to new steering gear and adjusted dampers significantly increase Ghost Series II’s cornering ability, whilst enhanced feedback levels can be felt through a thicker steering wheel.

 

In all specifications, ride quality and rear stability is further enhanced thanks to new rear hydraulic axle bearings.

포르쉐 공식 수입사 스투트가르트 스포츠카㈜는 2013년 10월 12일부터 13일까지, 2018 동계 올림픽 개최 예정지인 강원도 평창에서 포르쉐 카레라 챌린지 코리아 2013(Porsche Carrera Challenge Corea 2013)을 개최했다. 올해 다섯 번째를 맞이한 이 연례행사에는 100대가 넘는 포르쉐 자동차와 200명 이상의 고객이 참여해 안전하고 즐거운 드라이빙을 경험했다.


참가자들은 총 10개의 그룹으로 나누어 약 150km에 이르는 강원도 평창 일대를 주행하며 초가을의 수려한 자연 경관 속에서 드라이빙을 즐겼다. 이번 행사는 참가자들이 포르쉐 차량으로 인근 지역을 충분히 안전하고 즐겁게 주행할 수 있도록 준비됐다. 특히 드라이빙과 함께 진행된 포토 콘테스트는 참가자들의 가장 큰 호응을 얻었다.

한편 스투트가르트 스포츠카㈜는 카레라 챌린지 코리아 2013 행사 전인 10월 7일부터 11일까지 포르쉐 아시아 태평양(Porsche Asia Pacific) 지역 본부와 함께 911 탄생 50주년을 기념하는 축하행사를 진행했다. 이 행사에는 아시아 전 지역에서 초청된 미디어가 참가하여 제 7세대 911 모델 레인지를 드라이빙할 수 있는 기회를 가졌다. 또한 지난 9월 24일 국내에 최초 공개된 뉴 파나메라 모델들도 이번 시승 행사에서 경험할 수 있었다.


포르쉐 911은 50년을 이어온 포르쉐 브랜드의 핵심 모델이다. 1963년 9월 프랑크푸르트에서 개최된 국제 모터쇼(IAA)에서 타입 901(Type 901)이라는 이름으로 발표된 이후 전세계 자동차 팬들을 매료시켰다. 911은 85만대 이상이 생산되어 세계에서 가장 성공적인 스포츠카가 되었다. 911은 다른 어느 차와 달리, 스포티한 성능과 일상에서의 실용성, 전통과 혁신, 배타성과 사회적 수용성, 디자인과 기능성 같은 명백히 모순되어 보이는 가치들을 서로 조화시킨다. 7세대에 이르는 모델 하나하나가 각기 고유의 성공 스토리를 썼다는 데에 의심의 여지가 없다.

강원도 인제군에 위치한 오토테마파크 “인제 스피디움”의 첫 번째 일반인대상 트랙 데이의 프로그램이 공개됐다. 


인제 스피디움의 운영사인 ㈜KRF에 따르면 인제 스피디움 최초의 일반인 대상 트랙데이는 9월 6일부터 8일까지 사흘간 총 22회의 스포츠 주행시간이 마련되며 총 5회의 교육 프로그램을 구성하여 참가자들이 편한 시간에 교육 및 주행 체험을 할 수 있도록 구성됐다.


또한, 금요일에서 일요일 중 이틀간 무제한 스포츠 주행이 가능한 양일권 및 라이선스 발급과 스포츠 주행을 결합한 다양한 패키지 상품을 구성하여 참가자의 기호에 따른 맞춤형 프로그램을 선보인다.


이틀간 원하는 스포츠 주행 시간에 마음껏 주행이 가능한 ‘올데이패스’는 40만원이며 라이선스 발급과 스포츠 주행 2회가 가능한 ‘더블 패키지’는 20만원, 4회의 스포츠 주행을 즐길 수 있는 ‘쿼드 패키지’는 27만원으로 구성되어있다. 이 밖에도 라이선스 발급 후 사용 가능한 개별 스포츠 주행권은 4회에 14만원, 6회에 20만원으로 준비되어 패키지 상품 소진 후 추가적으로 주행을 즐길 수 있다.


제 1회 인제 스피디움 라이선스 트랙 데이의 마지막 날인 9월 8일에는 자신의 기록을 예측하여 가장 근접한 랩타임을 달성하는 참가자가 우승하게 되는 ‘비트 마이 레코드 (Beat My Record)’ 이벤트가 진행 된다. ‘비트 마이 레코드’는 라이선스를 발급받은 라이선스 소유자는 누구나 참여할 수 있으며 스포츠 주행 1회분이 소진된다. 


자신의 랩타임을 가장 근접하게 예측한 ‘비트 마이 레코드’의 우승자에게는 호텔 무료 숙박권과 스포츠 주행 4회권이 우승 특전으로 주어지며 2등과 3등에는 각각 스포츠 주행 4회권과 2회권이 주어진다.


㈜KRF 관계자는 “처음으로 일반에 트랙이 개방되는 행사이니만큼 참가자들이 다양한 선택을 할 수 있도록 계획했다.”며 “앞으로도 일반인들이 서킷 주행을 즐길 수 있는 다양한 기회를 마련하도록 할 것”이라고 밝혔다.

메르세데스 AMG 페트로나스 F1팀 소속 니코 로즈버그(Nico Rosberg)가 5월 26일(현지 시간) 2013 F1 모나코 그랑프리에서 생애 두 번째 우승을 차지했다.

 

니코 로즈버그의 이번 2013 F1 모나코 그랑프리 우승은 이번 시즌 그와 팀의 첫 우승이며 아버지 케케 로즈버그(Keke Rosberg)가 1983년 같은 대회에서 우승한 뒤 30년 후에 이루어져 더욱 의미가 있다.

 

폴 포지션으로 이번 레이스를 시작한 로즈버그는 경기 도중 두 번의 세이프티 카 등장과 한 번의 레드 플래그의 등장으로 경기가 잠시 중단되었음에도 불구하고 포지션을 계속 유지하였다. 로즈버그는 이번 대회에서 3,340km 코스 78바퀴를 2시간 17분 52초 056만에 주파하였으며 가장 빠른 주파 기록은 1분 18초 327(한 바퀴)이었다.


로즈버그는 "F1 모나코 그랑프리 우승은 나의 어릴 적 꿈이었다“며 "고향의 거리에서 실버 애로우(Silver Arrow)로 우승하게 되어 기쁘다“고 말했다.

 

한편, 로즈버그와 함께 메르세데스 AMG 페트로나스 F1 팀에서 활약 중인 루이스 해밀턴(Lewis Hamilton)은 이번 대회에서 4위로 경기를 마무리하였다.

 

2006 F1 바레인 그랑프리로 데뷔한 니코 로즈버그는 2010년부터 메르세데스 AMG 페트로나스 F1 팀에서 활동하고 있다. 로즈버그는 1985년 독일에서 태어나 모나코에서 자랐으며 2012 F1 중국 그랑프리에서 첫 우승을 차지했다.

 

메르세데스 AMG 페트로나스 포뮬러 원 팀은 2010년 미하엘 슈마허, 니코 로즈버그, 그리고 전설의 실버 애로우와 함께 F1 레이스에 복귀했다. 미하엘 슈마허가 2012년 시즌을 마지막으로 포뮬러 원에서 은퇴함에 따라 2013년 시즌부터 루이스 해밀턴을 새로 영입했다. 2013년 새로운 머신인 F1 W04를 선보인 메르세데스 AMG 페트로나스 포뮬러 원 팀은 현재 팀 성적 4위(109pts)를 유지하고 있다.
